Our Thank-You Carrot (Cake) For Senator Feinstein

After a great deal of effort, our side finally won some important concessions from Senator Dianne Feinstein (the namesake of our group.) We subsequently decided, as a group, to stop prodding her with the "stick" of protest, and reward her with a "carrot" (in this case, a carrot cake decorated with baby carrots.)

This is the text of our letter delivered with the cake on October 14:

"Dear Senator Feinstein,

"On behalf of the Feinstein 1200, we would like to thank you for signing Senator Brown’s letter last week supporting a robust public option.

"We applaud your recognition of the need to control premiums, and the essential role of the public option in doing this.

"We also support your more recent proposal to createa a national rate authority to control premiums and to oversee the health insurance industry in America.

"The fight has only begun, and we look forward to joining you!”

If you want the recipe, it's from Martha Stewart's website, but for a lighter, tastier cake, I would increase the buttermilk and reduce the oil.
